The first step to getting your custom project off the ground is an in-depth consultation with Timber and Koselig, whether in person, over the phone or via email. We talk through your plans, inspirations and budget, and put together a solid plan. Depending on what we’re creating together, we may also arrange a visit to your chosen build site.

We will cover some of the following: Project aspirations, Site/Location, Materiality, Wood or electric , and Desired timeline.

We take to the drawing board and develop a concept design package, translating your brief into engaging sketches, models, images and mood boards that help you really get a sense of the design intent and ambition for the project.

We will explore some of the following; Practical needs of the space, Materials & Tones, Connection to surroundings, and Thermal efficiencies.

The concept designs are then developed into working plans that are used for securing  planning permission, early structural and site considerations as well as budget estimates.

In the planning stage, we will also develop; Project scope, Deliverables, Build timeline, and Budget.

The most exciting part of the process can begin – with Timbers team of skilled craftspeople and our trusted specialist partners, your build can start. To maintain the level of detail and quality that we’re known for, we carry out as much of the construction as possible within the Timber-Koselig custom shop in St Paul, Minnesota.
